The Club History
The Club was established in 1953 after the government of the day made the local fishermen demolish their boatsheds. This was a popular beach for launching boats due to the reef surrounding it, which gave them protection when returning from fishing trips. A group of these people got together and formed what is now the Marmion Angling & Aquatic Club.
The founding club members were fortunate enough to be given a Title Deed with a Grant in Trust, which means that as long as we operate as a fishing Club the land belongs to the MAAC. So as you can now see from very humble beginnings we have grown to be a multi-functional facility for the benefit of members.
On Saturday 13th June, 2015 the Annual Clubs WA industry awards were held at the Crown Perth. Almost 500 representatives attended this gala night from Clubs large and small from all over the state.
The MAAC entered six categories and won three and were finalists in all the others. It is very pleasing to report that the MAAC was announced CLUB of the YEAR (Large), previously won in 2008, 2010, 2013 and now 2015. Paula Mosley our Office Manager (Accounts) won EMPLOYEE of the YEAR and Robert Weir won CLUB MANAGER of the YEAR for the third time in a row. Noel Williams was presented with a certificate honoring his work for the Club as a volunteer.
The MAAC will be entering the Awards once again in 2016. To vote for us in the Member's Choice Awards, download the editable form here then email through to Clubs WA by 5pm Monday 16th May.
